Description
Crispy pizza crust topped with rich tomato sauce, melted cheese, and flavorful sausage for a classic pizza night favorite.
Ingredients
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb Italian sausage, sweet or spicy
1 cup pizza sauce, store-bought or homemade
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil, then knead until a smooth dough forms.
3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
4. Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess oil.
5. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
6. Roll out the dough into your desired pizza shape and place it on a baking tray or pizza stone.
7. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
8. Top with mozzarella cheese, cooked sausage, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
10. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve.
Notes
Use beef or chicken sausage for a family-safe alternative.
Skip red pepper flakes for a milder flavor.
For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
