Description
Sweet, sticky, and savory Teriyaki Glazed Chicken with Pineapple made in one skillet. Tender chicken is coated in a glossy homemade teriyaki sauce with ginger, garlic, and juicy pineapple chunks—an easy family-friendly dinner that tastes better than takeout.
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned, drained)
1/2 cup soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
2 green onions, thinly sliced (garnish)
Sesame seeds (garnish)
Instructions
1. Whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl until the sugar mostly dissolves.
2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook 5–7 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through (165°F/74°C). Remove and slice into bite-sized pieces.
3. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add pineapple chunks to the skillet and cook 1–2 minutes.
4. Pour the teriyaki sauce into the skillet and simmer 2–3 minutes.
5. Stir cornstarch and water together to make a slurry. Slowly stir into the skillet and simmer 1–2 minutes until the sauce turns glossy and thick.
6. Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the glaze. Heat 1–2 minutes.
7. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or steamed veggies.
Notes
Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for a juicier result.
For less salt, use low-sodium soy sauce.
If using canned pineapple, drain well (pineapple in juice works great).
Add veggies like bell peppers or snap peas for a one-pan meal.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat gently.
