Description

Crispy fried chicken tucked inside warm, buttery biscuits and finished with sweet and spicy hot honey. These Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit Sandwiches are the perfect comfort food for dinner, brunch, or a cozy weekend meal.

Ingredients

Scale

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying

1/2 cup honey

12 tablespoons hot sauce

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

1. Place the chicken breasts in buttermilk and let them soak for 20 to 30 minutes.

2. In a bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and coat each piece well in the seasoned flour mixture.

4. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat and fry the chicken for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked.

5. Transfer the fried chicken to paper towels to drain excess oil.

6. In a small saucepan, gently warm the honey with hot sauce and red pepper flakes, stirring until smooth.

7. To make the biscuits, mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

8. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture becomes crumbly.

9. Add buttermilk and stir until a dough forms.

10. Roll out the dough, cut into biscuit rounds, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden.

11. Slice the warm biscuits in half, add a piece of crispy chicken, and drizzle with hot honey.

12. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Adjust the cayenne pepper and hot sauce to control the spice level.

For a lighter version, bake or air-fry the chicken instead of frying.

You can add pickles or lettuce for extra crunch and flavor.

Store leftover chicken and biscuits separately to keep the biscuits from becoming soggy.
